The 2-Day Australian Camp and Dhampus Ridge Trek is an introductory mountain walk starting just 45 minutes from Pokhara. Designed for travelers short on time or hiking with families, this route climbs through pine and rhododendron woods to Australian Camp (2,060 m) for unobstructed sunset and sunrise views across the Annapurna range before descending through the slate-roofed Gurung settlement of Dhampus.
No high-altitude risk; maximum sleeping height is 2,060 meters. ACAP and TIMS permits are required. Suitable for beginners and children.
Private vehicle transfer from Lakeside Pokhara along the Baglung Highway to Kande (1,770 m). Begin walking up stone staircases through shaded pine woods to Australian Camp. Settle into your lodge and take in evening views of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and Annapurna South.
Wake early for sunrise across Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Manaslu. After breakfast, descend an easy forest path to Dhampus village. Walk down stone steps past terraced farming plots to Phedi, where your private car awaits for the return drive to Pokhara.
